What is a "Rising Sun?"
To be quite honest, I'm not really sure. I'd like to think that it comes from the fact that Japan holds a hidden beauty. Scenery which is enlightened daily, by the "Rising Sun." With the mountainous terrain surrounding you at all times, the sun comes as a surprise, leaping over the mountain tops, shining on the valleys below. I've created this site to inform my friends, family and interested "net surfers" of my adventures in Japan and Asia, through the use of pictures and descriptions.

Who Am I?
For those of you who don't know me, my name is Matthew Trasky and I'm an English teacher at Hachiman-West Junior High School in Omihachiman, Japan. I arrived here last summer and will be returning to my home state of Michigan, in America, this July. An elementary school teacher in Grand Rapids, Michigan, I represent my school district through a sister city relationship between my hometown and Omihachiman.
